EHBA

Extrahepatic biliary atresia (EHBA) is found worldwide, but its etiology still remains a mystery. Several studies were made and many discussions have taken place for a better understanding of the clinical and pathological course of EHBA. Different diagnostic and therapeutic concepts have been established. However, surgical therapy for biliary atresia is curative only for a minority of patients; liver transplantation is inevitable for most of them.
We have invited many experts from different fields (pediatric surgery, pediatric gastroenterology and transplant surgery) to our symposium:

biliary atresia - new clues from etiology to therapy

to promote better understanding and fruitful interdisciplinary communication.
New aspects and innovations in treatment and basic reseach will be discussed. We are planning to start a presentation of biliary atresia in the internet to establish the motto of the meeting:

innovation by cooperation.

The aim is to continue the interdisciplinary cooperation by up-to-date information and communication. Anybody interested in the problems concerning EHBA is asked to join our forum and to participate actively in this website. Please send information about clinical courses or scientific findings as soon as possible by e-mail for prompt circulation to all interested participants.

Don´t hesitate to put any problems concerning clinical or other aspects of EHBA under

News & Questions.

We hope for lively contributions to biliary-atresia.com and we will endeavor to come up to expectations on interdisciplinary cooperation.
